| Shiny Metal Object Seen on Donnas Stage.... | November 15th, 2004 |
|
The Donnas are currently on the road in support of their latest disc of boogie and stomp entitled, Gold Medal. Searching for rock gold, FPE’s Agent Ferrante met up with the band pre-show during their Los Angeles House of Blues performance date. It was here, through the fog machine haze that a shiny metallic object was discovered onstage during the band’s soundcheck. According to guitar tech Paul Chavez, this object was none other than a Core One Diamond Plated Pedal Case.
“We needed a pedal board for the start of the UK tour and the Core One was the perfect fit,” reports Chavez. Housing the well-worn sonic tools used by guitarist Allison Robertson, the PCD-85 had travelled from the USA to the UK and back again to it’s home of Los Angeles.

| Lamb of God - Terror and Hubris in the Los Angeles House of Blues! | November 3rd, 2004 |
|
FPE Agent Chris L. reports on the Nov. 1 LOG Show in LA.
Following a very cool Middle-Eastern vocal chant intro, Lamb Of God hit the stage playing several songs off their new album Ashes of the Wake. The sound was great and musically those songs sounded spot-on with the album. Looking at the stage, Willie is on the left, and Mark is on the right and they are mixed completely in stereo. Their guitar tones were exactly like the recording, and all the sprinkles that they each play cut through perfectly.
Chris' drum tones were huge, with every hit of the bell on the ride cymbal audible and clear. Not only did John's bass sound great, but you could feel the low-end hitting your body.
Visually, they are a metal band. What to expect? Randy paces back and forth the whole time, briefly stepping onto a riser at the front of the stage to engage the crowd. Mark, Willie and John pretty much just do some old-school headbanging, which is refreshing in this time of choreographed pseudo-metal stage antics. Chris just makes sure the train keeps on rolling, but definitely watch him if you get a chance... he's a monster drummer with a style all his own. They were still playing at 11:15 when I left, only because my parking meter was about to expire. I suck. |
